Camas Bulbs

Camas - Camassia quamash

Spikes of star-shaped flowers in deep violet-blue, opening from the bottom upwards over a couple of weeks. It is one of the few bulbs that prefers heavy, damp ground, so it solves a problem most others create. Good in longer grass, where it spreads on its own and comes back each year.

Plant in groups of 20 or more in a moist border or meadow grass, where it will naturalise. It needs space, so it is better in the ground than in pots.

Not known to be toxic to cats and dogs.
